Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has said the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) lacks the requisite ideas to create jobs needed by Ghanaian youth.

According to Mrs. Rawlings, the economy is rather rolling back with businesses relocating out of the country as many more collapse due to high cost of doing business.

She said she had received several calls from business owners in the country asking her to come to their rescue.

Her assertion contradicts President Mahama’s recent claim that the economy has made a turnaround and attracting new businesses into the country.

Mrs. Rawlings was speaking on TV3’s New Day.

We can’t leave EC alone

Nana Konadu also questioned the rationale behind the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to unveil a new logo especially at a period when it is expected to focus on its core mandate of delivering a free and credible elections.

According to Mrs. Rawlings, the Chairperson of the Commission, Charlotte Osei got it wrong by focusing on non-essential things.

“The other day I saw somewhere ‘leave her alone’. Nobody can tell us to leave the EC alone, nobody because she is working for us. It is our right,” she stressed.

Chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Charlotte Osei recently launched a five-year strategic plan and a new logo for the commission ahead of the general elections.

The decision to replace the Commission’s old logo has attracted harsh criticism from many Ghanaians. Mrs. Rawlings further accused the Chairperson of the EC of not paying attention to divergent views.

“I have queen mothers calling me that Nana, even the people coming to register us do not speak our language. Don’t throw things into people’s face as if they are speaking gibberish,” she said.

She advised the Chairperson to listen to diverse opinions since the election is about Ghanaians and not her personal interests.
