Breaking News: 4 Jailed For President Accident

Four people sustained injuries on Thursday night when one of the vehicles in the presidential convoy was involved in an accident.

President John Dramani Mahama was on his way to Agordake in the Volta Region to commission a pontoon when the accident occurred between Ekye Amanfrom and Agordake around 7pm.

The accident vehicle was a Toyota Landcruiser which had been allocated to the press corp that accompanied the president.

The final funeral rites of the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North constituency, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu took place at the forecourt of the State house today [Friday], April 15.

Present at the funeral were President John Mahama, Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur, flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, and his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

National Executives of the NPP, leadership and members of Parliament and some minsters of state were also present to pay their last respect.

Breaking News: Stakeholder Fight MP Ex-Gratia

Stakeholders at a Zonal Consultative forum held in Kumasi on emoluments and salaries of Article 71 public office holders have recommended the setting up of a provident fund into which Members of Parliament (MPs) would cede part of their monthly salaries to serve as their ex-gratia when they are exiting Parliament.

They said the present remunerations and other benefits being enjoyed by the law-makers is perceived to trigger agitations from other category of public sector workers who feel their huge salaries is putting undue pressure on the national kitty from which all public workers are also paid.

Additionally, “the perceived lavish lifestyles of some MPs and their penchant to dole monies to their constituents in the name of social responsibilities give them an unfair advantage to win the constituent’s parliamentary seats many times over”.

Breaking News: J.B Laid In State


Parliamentarians, government officials and a section of the public have gathered at the forecourt of the State House today as JB Danquah Adu is laid in-state.

JB Danquah Adu was murdered on Tuesday February 5, 2016.

The Abuakwa North MP, described as honest, friendly and selfless, was allegedly murdered in his home at East Legon by a 19-year-old man who is currently facing trial for robbery and murder.

Today, Friday April 15, 2016 JB Danquah Adu's mortal remains will be laid in-state at the forecourt of the State House followed by a state-supported funeral tomorrow, April 16.

The late MP left behind a wife and two children.

Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Mr. Atta Akyea, has charged the police to provide adequate security for MPs and Ghanaians during the funeral of late Joseph Boakye Dankwah Adu.

The funeral comes off at the State House in Accra on Friday.

The call comes in the wake of a prophecy by Nigerian televangelist, TB Joshua that either Ghana or Nigeria will experience a terrorist attack between Thursday and Saturday. 

The prophecy also advised people in the two countries to stay away from mammoth public gatherings which normally serve as fertile grounds for terrorists.
