Outspoken Member of Parliament for Efutu Alexander Afenyo Markin has revealed that President John Mahama, then Vice President of Ghana, in 2010, intervened when some public officials were frustrating his business.

According to him, Mr. Mahama issued a note to him and his partner to be given to the officials when they petitioned him at the Osu castle, then seat of government.

The MP who is also into the haulage business told Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Wednesday that there were times his trucks were stopped on the road for overloading while other trucks with similar axle of load were made to pass simply because of his relationship with the New Patriotic Party.

“The sad aspect was that my trucks will load, (we had this elephant embossment on them) other trucks will pass but mine will pack for overloading. For the tankers, we had a contract with Goil, Goil could not abrogate the contract but the trucks will be there, they won’t load them.

“So around 2010, I and my partner who is an NDC member walked to the then vice president’s office and we complained bitterly so he called those responsible to order and we started operating.

“…When somebody does the right thing you say it…president Mahama in 2010 when we complained to him about our business and the treatment, he intervened. I remember he gave a note for us to send somewhere that; stop frustrating the young man,” he stated.

He however added that things got bad again when Mr. Mahama had moved on to become the presidential candidate of the NDC and he had also emerged as the parliamentary candidate for the NPP at Efutu.
