President John Mahama has launched a scathing attack on the wife of the running mate Samira Bawumia for claiming the people in his hometown at Bole in the Northern region lack good drinking water.
According to President Mahama, he does not blame her because she [Samira] lacks the technical knowhow when it comes to the provision of water to communications especially in the three northern regions.
The wife of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia bemoaned how people in the President’s hometown specifically Damongo are still sharing their only source of water with animals.
Samira Bawumia chastised President Mahama for mounting huge billboards across the country just to win elections while his people die of thirst.
But the President while addressing party supporters Eastern region Thursday said he does not blame Mrs. Bawumia because he lacks technical expertise when it comes to water provision to the rural area.
“You [Samira] don’t understand the technical reasons [why the people are still without pipe borne water; you can’t think far” he scoffed.
As the father for all, President Mahama said he is working assiduously to provide good drinking water across the country and not only the north.
“We when came to power only 58 percent had access clean drinking water but today 76% of Ghanaians have access to clean drinking water like Kyebi through the small town water system and we will not selective” he added.
President Mahama assured water provision for the people in the three northern regions is still work in progress.
