The Electoral Commission (EC) says that it is mandated by law to only use the exhibition method in cleaning up the voters’ register ahead of the November 7 polls.
This follows calls by some opposition political parties and civil society groups for the validation of the current register, after their demands for a new voters’ register were rejected by the Commission.
According to Samuel Boadu, the Acting Director of Human Resources at the commission, they are mandated by law to exhibit the register as part of the process to clean it up.
“As enshrined in the CI 91 that we use, we can’t get a new register. We use exihibition to clean up the register in Ghana, let us all get on board to clean the register so that we can get a credible register this year,” he said.
