Deputy Youth organizer for National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Afram Plains South constituency, Augustine Gyekune says the party will lose Afram Plains South seat for the first time if the party goes ahead to drop Mark Oliver Kevor as the candidate for the area.

The incumbent Member of Parliament, who was the parliamentary candidate, opted out of the 2016 race after a court had granted a motion by one Dickson Adjei Danso that he (Boateng) should be prevented from the race because he is embroiled in a criminal case.

The NDC knowing that the case could affect the party hence decided to drop the incumbent, who won the primary last year against one Eric Osei-Owusu.

With this new development, the party's National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy, was said to have asked the Eastern Regional Secretary, Mark Oliver-Kevor, to replace Mr Appiah Boateng as the party’s parliamentary candidate.

However rumours are rife that the parliamentary candidate for the area, Mark Oliver Kevor has been asked to step down for Eric Owusu to contest the seat for the party in the December 7 polls.

But Augustine Gyekune in an interview on Adom News said even though the decision has not been confirmed they will resist any attempt by the executives to drop Mr Oliver- Kevor who he believes has gone through the genuine processes to file his nomination

According to him, Eric Owusu will only lose the seat to the opposition NPP.

Meanwhile CPP candidate at the constituency Semefa Mawutor says the party has petitioned the EC at the constituency to look into the matter and work with the electoral laws.

He stated further that, if the EC fails to enforce the law, they will head to court.
