Muhammadu Osmanu, a twenty-year-old Fulani man on Thursday entered a provision shop at Mpamu near Hweehwee, a community in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern region ostensibly to steal.
Luck however eluded him as he was caught by one George Kwame Ankamah, a 46-year-old in-law of the shop owner.
To prevent Ankamah from blowing the alarm, Osmanu allegedly shot him in the mouth with a gun instantly killing him.
Confirming the incident to Graphic Online, the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent James Sarfo Peprah, said Osmanu was presently in police custody while investigations were ongoing.
According to the police, Ankamah had seen the inside light of the shop switched on and therefore decided to go find out who was in there.
He said when Ankamah opened the door of the shop, Osmanu who was hiding in there, apparently on a stealing spree, shot him in the mouth, killing him instantly.
Osmanu after the incident was said to have tried to escape but was apprehended by the youth in the community and handed over to the Police.
The body of Ankamah has since been deposited at the Atibie Government Hospital morgue.
