President John Dramani Mahama has launched what perhaps is his fiercest attack yet on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, describing him as a man full of tension and division.

He said he recently watched a video which former President John Agyekum Kufuor, in the days leading to the NPP Congress in 2008 warned his party against electing a presidential candidate who was full of tension because that person would divide their party.

Speaking at a well-attended NDC rally at Duayaw-Nkwanta in the Tano North Constituency on Wednesday, the President said as if Mr Kufuor was a prophet, Nana Akufo-Addo had, since he became the leader of the NPP, had been a tension-creator.

He said Nana Akufo-Addo had supervised the suspension of some of the party's key national officers including the National Chairman and General Secretary" and now the suspended officials are sitting there watching them. "

President Mahama questioned how someone who could not manage a political party can be trusted to manage a whole country.

As President Mahama launched a tirade on the flag bearer of the biggest opposition party, the charged crowd cheered him on.

He stated that the NDC was a united party, ready to win the election.

First Lady joins

The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, joined her husband's campaign trail in her native Brong Ahafo Region on Wednesday as she sought to shore up the campaign in the swing region.

Election watchers believe Brong Ahafo will be a major battle ground on December 7 and Mrs Mahama, who hails from Jema Ampoma in the Nkoranza District could be capitalising on her popularity and charity work in the region to boost the President's campaign.

The couple wore the same fabric made in NDC colours as the campaign moved through various towns,

Although the First Lady did not address the crowds, her presence electrified the atmosphere with scores of people calling out her name in ecstacy as she waved back.

Party supporters lined up the roads in their numbers at Bechem in the Tano South Constituency, Duayaw-Nkwanta in Tano South Constituency and Abesim in the Sunyani East District to welcome the NDC flag bearer.

Record

President Mahama said the record of the NDC in government could not be matched by the NPP.

One after the other, he mentioned some of the projects the government had undertaken in the region and said the next four years would see more for the region.
