The country's football association has rubbished reports that sports ministry has frozen salaries of the Black Stars coach

Ghana FA has played down suggestions that Black Stars coach Avram Grant is yet to receive his three-month salary ahead of the World Cup qualifying game against Uganda next month.
Reports were rife in the local media that Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC),  which pays the Israeli's salaries as part of their corporate social responsibility, had been ordered by the ministry of youth and sports to hold off the coach's pay, leading to Grant's decision to cancel his contract prematurely.
“The Ghana Football Association’s attention has been drawn to media reports suggesting that the Black Stars headline sponsors Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has not met its contractual obligations regarding the emoluments of coach Mr. Avram Grant," the association's statement read.
“We wish to put it on record that the report is inaccurate as GNPC has been steadfastly resolute and committed to its contractual obligations to the Black Stars. We also wish to state that the ministry of youth and sports has not sought to influence the implementation of the sponsorship agreement between GNPC and Ghana FA.
“The Ghana FA wishes to assure Ghanaians that coach Avram Grant is in full charge of the Black Stars and has not expressed any desire of leaving his post. GNPC is a highly valued partner of the Black Stars and has not reneged on its contractual obligations to the team since it assumed the role of the headline sponsor of the senior national team.
“The GFA will continue to count on the support of GNPC in future for the Black Stars and other activities connected to sports in the country,” the statement added.
Ghana will host Uganda at the Tamale Sports Stadium on October 7 before they travel to South Africa for an international friendly against the Bafana Bafana at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on October 11.
