Citi News has learnt that the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) John Kudalor, has accepted a doctorate degree from an unaccredited university.

The Ghana Police Service has issued a formal statement announcing the conferment of a Doctorate Degree on the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor.

The statement, signed by the Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service, Supt Cephas Arthur, said Mr.Kudalor earned the Degree from US-based Dayspring Christian University.

The statement comes at a time Ghanaians on social media are mocking the IGP for receiving the degree from an unaccredited university.

It is not yet clear when the IGP took a PHD course, and the nature of the program he read.

The Dayspring Christian University is one of four universities listed by Ghana’s National Accreditation Board as not meeting the Board’s accreditation criteria.

The Board subsequently warned the public against such universities after they conferred a flood of honorary degrees on some high ranking individuals in the country.

The statement from the police said “the academic laurel of Doctor of Psychology- Conservative Model + ad eundem was awarded to the IGP on 28th June, 2015.

However, the award was received early June 2016, when Mr. John Kudalor visited the United States on official assignment. The Police Public Affairs Directorate is not immediately available for comment on the issue.”

Mahama swears in Kudalor as IGP
