The Akatsi District Police Command has launched a manhunt for a teacher in Akatsi, for allegedly butchering his wife.

Adome Emmanuel, a tutor of Wlutey RC Basic School, believed to be in his early 30s, was on Saturday June 18, reported to have butchered his wife Dzotefe Fortune.

An in-law to the lady Richard Dakpo who narrated the incident to Citi News said Fortune went to the husband’s residence to pick their daughter that she left behind when the incident happened.

Emmanuel, according to him, prevented her from taking the child and subsequently inflicted multiple cutlass injuries on her in the process.

“The child was with the man when the lady was at the training. so she came back and wanted to see the child and also take her home but the man did not accept. That was the whole argument and the man had to use the cutlass to inflict multiple injuries on her” he said.

Emmanuel, after allegedly committing the purported atrocity, went into hiding. The victim, an employee of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), under the National Youth Employment Programme, is currently receiving treatment at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

However, the Akatsi District Police Command say they have commenced investigations into the case, and mounted an intensive search to apprehend Emmanuel Dome.

They are therefore calling on the general public to volunteer information on the whereabouts of the teacher.
