Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye has sworn that he and his personnel in the Ashanti region will work hard to smoke out the killers of a polling station chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region.

An NPP Polling Station Chairman for Apotuogya DA Primary in the Bosomtwe District was shot dead by suspected armed robbers on Wednesday.

Baah Tweneboah popularly known as Agya Baah was shot in his house around 9pm after returning from work.

Agya Baah, who worked as an Agricultural Extension Officer in Kumasi, was in his early 40s.

The shooting death of the NPP chair coupled with recent violence in Krofrom in the Kumasi metropolis, DCOP Kofi Boakye said, has led to fear gripping people in the region.

He assured on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Thursday that his men would never rest until they complete the task of smoking out the killers of the NPP chairman.

“What is shocking is that these people shoot to kill persons who do not resist robberies on them…we have left everything we are doing and we are chasing these criminals, we will never rest until we arrest these guys”
Commander One, as DCOP Boakye is popularly called in Kumasi, indicated that preliminary investigations by the police has revealed that the same criminal gang shot to death a police officer about a fortnight ago and also shot another person at Kokoben.

Kofi Boakye, who conceded there are not enough police stations in the region, especially at new sites in the Kumasi Metropolis encouraged residents to form watch dog committees in their neightbourhoods to help fight crime.

“These criminals attack people at areas which are isolated, but we are still investigating to arrest these persons…until we arrest these persons, we can’t rest and also the entire region won’t feel safe,” he said.

“We want to arrest them so it does not create a state of fear and panic…the people of Kumasi are justified in expressing fear after the shooting to death of three persons,” he said.
