Breaking News: WHAT KILLED NANA ADDO WIFE?

Elements within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), are stepping out in defense of a purely private matter involving the marital challenges of their flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, in which Eleanor Nkansah-Gyamenah, died under very bizarre circumstances, leaving her family from Ashanti Mampong, still in shock 23 years after her death.

Although, details remain sketchy as to the actual cause of her death, many people familiar with the marriage, say Eleanor, alias “Obaa Saa” died as a result of marital molestations and neglect. There are claims that, she was pregnant with another child of Nana Addo, when she died.

But the NPP National Youth Organizer, Sammy Awuku, has a different version of events leading to Eleanor’s demise. According to him, the lady, was given proper care with Nana Addo, sleeping on benches in the hospital, where she was on admission undergoing medical treatment.

Mr. Awuku, is the second party person to jump into the fray with regards to Eleanor’s death. Nana Addo’s Press Secretary, Eugene Arhin, left more questions than answers after he signed a statement flippantly saying Nana Addo did not kill his wife.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Krokrokoo Morning Show yesterday, Sammy Awuku, condemned those seeking to hang the death of Eleanor Nkansah- Gyamenah on Nana Addo to score political points.

To him, evoking a 23-year old painful loss and suggesting that Nana Addo killed his wife and the mother of one of his daughter, who was 9-years old at the time, was most unfair and inhumane to the family of the deceased.

What is amazing is that, the NPP, has been loud demanding to know what killed President John Evans Atta Mills. This is despite the Mills family, saying they have the autopsy report and that the late President died as a result of heart attack and stroke.

Although, the Nkansah-Gyamenah family, is yet to speak on the matter of Eleanor’s death, sources close to Akufo-Addo, have told The Herald that she died from a condition called “Rheumatoid Arthritis”.

It was explained that based on her condition, “….. she had to be on a steroid based drug which reduced her immune system, so she got malaria and was hospitalised for about a week at Dr Kwasi Boadu’s clinic. Was transferred to Korle Bu and died shortly after her immune system, could not even fight off the malaria”.

Officially, the 72-year old Nana Addo, has been involved with three women so far. The first was a Nigerian by name Remi, then the late Eleanor Nkansah-Dwamina, and presently Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

Events leading to the death of Eleanor Nkansah- Gyamenah, have been on the lips of some party bigwigs in the past, albeit silently, The Herald discovered.

The Herald is scavenging for an autopsy report, which family sources insist was made by the medical doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and very is damning.

Her funeral was held in Kumasi, while her burial took place in Ashanti- Mampong, where she hails from and is a royal.
The marriage, left behind a 32-year old daughter, called Nana Dokua Akufo-Addo; one of the four daughters of Nana Akufo-Addo.

Throughout The Herald’s interaction with those familiar with the story, a certain Joyce Darko’s name kept popping up with claims that her incursions collapsed the marriage and eventually led to the death of “Obaa Saa” whose beauty, charm and aura, most girls in Kumasi, back then, tried to emulate.

The Herald is also seeking to truck down the brother of “Obaa Saa” who according to this paper’s sources, was in-charge of the Kumasi Branch of the international courier company, DHL at the time of the sister’s mysterious death.
Nana Addo, has been touted for bringing DHL to Ghana.

The names of her brothers, had been given as Eric Nkansah-Gyamenah and Frank Nkansah-Gyamenah.

While, Eric is a Hockey coach and believed to be living in Accra, Frank, is said to be in-charge of a school called, City of Kumasi at Ayigya near Bomso in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. The school belongs to the Nkansah-Gyamenah family, and with Frank as the Principal.

Meanwhile, a text message making the rounds in social media, has described Eleanor, as an accomplished lawyer, who suffered marital abuse prior to her death.

The message which is in the name of one Nana Gyasi ,whose identity and credibility The Herald, cannot vouch claimed to be a cousin of the late Eleanor.

He also alleged that the ex-Nigerian wife of Nana Addo, Remi also suffered marital molestations.

“Remi had to escape to the Britain through the support of Alhaji Asuma Banda and Nana’s own uncle Jones Ofori-Atta. Jones facilitated processing of her document to acquire British Government’s welfare package (unemployment benefit) to support her two daughters”.

“In 1996, it took the intervention of Mrs. Adu Boahen to stop Remi from publishing treatment meted out to her by Nana Addo. Remi was sponsored by Madam Boahene to come down to Ghana and stayed at the residence of Prof. Adu Boahene (Labone) for the issue to be ironed out formally. A request was put before the woman by Nana Addo to be allowed take full responsibility of his daughters”, the text alleged.

“This was a strategic request to avoid possible media attack when he embarks on his Presidential Candidate bid. The Woman in the presence of the then secretary to the Nigerian High Commissioner granted the request but refused package Nana presented to her as his show of appreciation”.
