A 35-year-old man has been arrested by the Awutu Police Station in the Central Region for buying Kenkey and fish on credit to the tune of GH¢170 over a month period.
The food seller, Afia Tettehwaa, narrated to Joy News that a construction worker, Kofi Annan, who she has not seen in the area before approached her pleading to be given some balls of kenkey and fish which he would pay for at the end of the month when he was paid.
She said he looked pitiful so she agreed and Mr Annan received the daily package of kenkey and fish at GH¢7 for 30 days but when he was approached at the end of the month for the money he said he has not been paid.
Madam Tettehwaa said she was angered by the development resulting in the decision to cut the supply until such a time that he would pay the money.
She said the last time she saw him was after eight months yet he could not produce the money.
He told me he has changed jobs and that he is now working with the Highways Department because his previous job did not pay him, she told Adom FM's Seth Kofi in Twi.
Madam Tettehwaa said she could not take it any longer so she accosted him with the help of some men and took him to the Awutu Police Station.
A police officer at the Awutu Police Station who pleaded anonymity confirmed the issue to Myjoyonline.com, saying the Mr Annan has been in the cell since Saturday night.
He said they have started an investigation into the matter before taking any action.
