Crimes in Ghana since the beginning of the year has always always been an issue which attracts grave concern over the security in Ghana. Here is a list of the most troubling crime stories in Ghana so far.
1. Ghanaian pastor tries to pay woman for sex
Rev. Dominic Yamoah
A Catholic priest, 40-year-old Rev. Yamoah was arrested and charged with solicitation in Fremont County after a prostitution sting at Hamburg in the America.
2. 15-year old boy caught having sex with sheep
Boy caught having sex with sheep
A Junior High School student at Huniso in the Prestea-Huni District was caught having sex with sheep. The 15-year old boy according to a report by Accra -based radio station, Class FM, was caught by two young men in the act.
3. Ghanaian woman killed in Worcester
The lifeless body of a Ghanaian woman has been retrieved by police in Worcester in the US three days after it was found on Tuesday. The lady whose name was given as Sandra Afia Ansong is believed to have been strangled by some unknown assailants in her room.
4. JHS boy commits suicide over a girl
An 18-year-old junior high school (JHS) student, Richard Damale has allegedly committed suicide over a supposed failed relationship with a girl in an uncompleted building at Asuakwa in the Sunyani municipality.
5. Class 5 boy dragged to court for raping 14-year-old
A primary five pupil has appeared before the Accra Circuit Court for raping a 14- year- old primary three girl. The young boy who pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement had a difficult time in court challenging the fact that he was not 18 years old. The court, presided over by Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, ordered the accused to produce his birth certificate and remanded him into police custody.
6. Man butchers co-tenant for dumping rubbish at his doorsteps
Koofie Yeboah was confronted by the said co-tenant for sweeping and accumulating rubbish at his doorsteps, a misunderstanding which saw both tenants engaging in a fierce scuffle inflicting cutlass wounds on each other.
7. Woman poisons her son so she could marry her boyfriend
Police in the Ashanti region have arrested a woman believed to be in her 30’s, Beatrice Nyarko for poisoning her own two-year-old son to pave way for her to marry her boyfriend. Beatrice who has been promised marriage by her boyfriend believed the son was a threat to her marriage, hence the decision to kill him. The accused woman is said to have fed her child boiled egg poisoned with weedicide and later locked him up in the room and left.
8. Police officer kills woman and kids, as well as himself
A police Lance Corporal with the RDF unit in Tema is alleged to have shot a woman and two kids, as well as himself. According to the Tema Regional Police Command investigations are ongoing into the murder of the three and suicide of the police officer. Speaking to Myjoyonline.com, Greater Accra Region police spokesperson ASP Juliana Obeng confirmed the incident but failed to give any further information.
