An unidentified man believed to be in his 30s was electrocuted while stealing high-tension cables on the School of Biomedical Sciences campus of the University for Development Studies in Tamale.
According to the police, the deceased is part of a syndicate which has been stealing electricity cables on the UDS campus and other parts of the region.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Northern Regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said the accomplices managed to escape with the cables.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
He added that the police have intensified day and night patrols on the UDS campus and the areas close to the campus to stop cable thieves.
