The Municipal Chief Executive of Ga West, Sam Atukwei Quaye has threatened to seize wares of traders who have taken over the pavement on the Dome highway in Accra.

The traders have for some time now adopted the pavement for their trading activities instead of moving to the market.

All efforts by the municipal assembly to get them off the pavement to Dome market, Ofankor and Amasaman has proven futile.

The MCE for the area, Sam Atukwai Quaye who visited the market told Adom News he would be compelled to seize their goods and have them arrested and prosecuted if they continue to use the pavement for their trading activities.

He accused the traders of using the media to fight the Assembly any time legal action is taken against them for breaching their bye-lawas.

“We are starting a sensitization exercise to let them know that what they are doing is against the laws of the country. How can you move to the road and sell when you know it is dangerous. If they refuse to leave, we would be compelled to arrest them and prosecute them as well,” he said.
