The Police has invited the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu for questioning over a statement he made at the party's rally held at Savelugu recently that the party has decided to deploy about 40 macho men to every single polling station in the Northern Region.
Mr Naabu said the macho men will police every single polling station in the Northern Region to prevent it from being snatched by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters on Election Day.
When Graphic Online contacted the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Ebenezer Tetteh about calls being made by Civil Society Organisations, security analysts and the NDC for the police to invite Mr Naabu over the said comment, he said the police has already contacted the Regional Chairman about the issue but he was currently out of town and would honour the invitation when he returns.
"We have contacted Mr Naabu on the matter but he is currently at Kpandai and has promised that when he comes back he would honour the invitation", ASP Tetteh said.
The Electoral Commission (EC) ahead of the December polls has identified the Northern Region as one of the violent prone areas in the country where violence could occur on the Election Day.
The Northern Region according to the EC has a total of 2,688 polling stations for this year's election.
