The Army Should Be Professional.....Brigadier General
Personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces have been charged to demonstrate a high level of professionalism in the run-up to the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Addressing officers during the closing ceremony of a six-day training at the military shooting range at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region, the Officer in charge of the Southern Command, Brigadier General Musa Weija, urged men and women of the service to maintain a non-partisan posture in the upcoming polls.
For him, the neutrality of the military and other security agencies would contribute to the sustenance of the country’s peace and security.
“This year is an election year and the political tempo will increase. I entreat all of you to do what you are best known for, which is professionalism. Let us provide the best security for our beloved country for the peace of our country,” he admonished.
He indicated that in the course of the exercise, individuals’ weapon handling skills had been enhanced, team spirit built, and professionalism of the military had been polished.
Brig. Gen Weija, thus, assured that the military would be available if called upon to help maintain peace and order before, during, and after the elections.
