Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly held talks with officials at the club in an attempt to quickly stop any of last season's problems coming back to haunt the team.
Abramovich kept certain board members at the club until 1am after Friday's loss against Liverpool, having watched his side get systematically outclassed over the 90 minutes by Jurgen Klopp's side.
While Antonio Conte is not expected to lose his job any time soon - that would be rash even by Abramovich's standards - the Blues' owner is understandably keen to avoid any possibility of his side not matching expectations this season.
Chelsea spent £117m in the summer, which is considerably less than the two Manchester clubs, but still an investment that Abramovich will want a return on. David Luiz made his second debut in the Liverpool defeat, having cost Chelsea 32m, while £33m man Michy Batshuayi didn't even make an appearance from the bench.
