Breaking News: Man. United Is Not Ready For Mourinho

Not many saw this one coming: Manchester United have reportedly asked Jose Mourinhoto become their next manager... in 2017.

According to The Sun , United suits hoped Mourinho would take up the offer of a year in the Chinese Super League – with the club still unsure about whether to terminate Louis Van Gaal ’s contract early. Mourinho has already rejected offers from China and Italy.

The club can expect plenty of season ticket holders not to renew and Ed Woodward 's inbox might crash with incandescent emails if they are planning on keeping Van Gaal. The Dutchman's situation, as we understand it, would be untenable if United failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Having botched the managerial handover in 2013, United have a chance to atone for their daft decision to appoint David Moyes as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor but the latest line will concern fans who lost faith in Van Gaal long ago.

Mourinho has already said he wants to start his next job in the summer and United have already started to scout players he approves of, such as Renato Sanches. Another is Joao Mario .

Reports suggest United have been told they would have to pay the £47million release clause to land the Sporting Lisbon star.

The 23-year-old is currently contracted to Sporting until 2020.

One player who looks like he is not coming to Old Trafford this summer is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang .
