General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has argued that the opposition NPP remains a threat to Ghana’s peace and democracy
– The comments follow the state of the nation address presented by flagbearer of the opposition party, Nana Akuffo Addo
General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has described the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a threat to Ghana’s peace and democracy following the presentation of the true state of the nation by flagbearer of the party, Nana Akuffo Addo.
Speaking during a press conference in response to Nana Addo’s presentation on the State of the Nation’s address, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah argued that the opposition party has rather left its internal wrangling to delve into the state of Ghana’s economic affairs.

“The undesirable and distasteful behavior and practice of the NPP has sought to sink Ghana’s image as a peaceful democratic nation. Their thirst for intra-party violence and unconventional methods as the preferred method for settling disagreements is seen as the major threat to our democratic practice today,” he argued.

Further arguing on government’s performance on the economic sector, not forgetting the fight against corruption,Johnson Asiedu argued that the NPP has lost touch with the ongoing developments in the country.
“They are quoting the IMANIs and the CDDs, Afro barometers and so on. They are running away from Transparency International and everybody knows where these NGOs are coming from,” he argued.
Meanwhile flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo has argued that contrary to claims of Ghana’s economy being resilient were false and that the economy was on a reverse trend citing claims of excessive borrowing and huge external debts.
