Renowned spiritualist, Nana Kweku Bonsam is convinced the incessant snake invasion of Essienimpong, Kwaaso, and Piase close to Ejisu in the Ashanti region may be a sign of anger of the gods.

According to him, someone from the town who had raped and slept with his lover in the bush might have incurred the wrath of the gods of the land.

Residents of Essienimpong, Kwaaso, and Piase are living in fear as snakes invade their houses at night.

Close to 300 black snakes were killed in about seven houses on Wednesday night alone at Essienimpong.

Though no snake bites have been recorded so far, residents say they cannot sleep. The invasion started three days and peaks between 7 and 8 pm each night.

Speaking in an interview on Adom News, Nana Kweku Bonsam said the incident is more spiritual than natural.

He indicated that the gods of the land to show their anger manifest themselves in various forms including turning into snakes just to torment residents.

"The snakes are gods of the land but are coming to people’s homes because they are angry at the residents," Bonsam stressed.

He called on the chiefs of the town to consult their gods to help purify the land to avoid any pandemic.

Kweku Bonsam said he has consulted his oracle ‘Kofi Kofi’ on the issue but has promised to give him the answer on Friday March 18, 2016.

Meanwhile, workers at the Kumasi Zoo have moved to the area to control the situation.

Manager in charge of the Zoo, Stephen Tamango says his men are at Kwaso and its surroundings to access the current situation to see how best they can help the residents.

He indicated that the mysterious invasion of about 300 different species of snakes could boost revenue at the zoo.

Stephen Tamango called on residents to remain calm as they work to move the snakes from the community to their natural habitat.
